Police said yesterday they are investigating a famous pop singer and a producer on charges of drug use.
The singer, identified only by the initial K, and the DJ-turned-producer, identified only as H, are charged, respectively, with using marijuana and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

Both undertook a drug test at the National Police Agency and acknowledged the charges after the test results were positive, police said.

Another singer from a four-woman group, identified as S, is also suspected of using drugs and was summoned by police, but she strongly denied the charge. Her urine test, taken after she was interrogated on Feb. 22, reportedly was negative. Police said they had requested closer examination at the National Institute of Scientific Investigation.

Since popular entertainers are involved, an official said police investigations were being handled prudently. "Whether an arrest warrant will be requested will be decided next week and if further investigation reveals that both have taken drugs regularly, it is likely that they will be arrested," the official said.

The management company for the female band released a statement yesterday saying the drug allegation against the band member is completely groundless and noted the uine test was negative. It said reports that further drug tests will be taken ares untrue.

Police also said three non-entertainers have been arrested, including one for supplying drugs, while seven others are being investigated.
